Film & TV on DVD
De Niro can be great and has been on many occasions but I absolutely loathedMeet the Parents and Analyze This, embarrassing and unfunny.
But he does have a flair for comedy in Scorsese'sThe King of Comedy and opposite Sean Penn in the remake of We're No Angels plus Midnight Run is a great buddy comedy. Oh and Mad Dog and Glory also amused
Here is a list of my other favourite De Niro films: (Not in any order)
Godfather 2
Once Upon A Time in America
Heat
Angel Heart
Ronin
Goodfellas
The Mission
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Brazil
Deer Hunter
The Untouchables
Copland
Jackie Brown
1900
Mean Streets
Greetings
It's tough to cite an overall favourite because all these films contain such impressive De Niro moments.

for me, it's all about "Goodfellas". You may know who we are, but now we know who you are.

Greetings is an average movie but De Niro is the best thing in it. He's probably better in the sequel Hi Mom!
Bang the Drum Slowly and Mean Streets are both great early roles. He kills it in both.
Then there's the obvious classics - Taxi Driver, Raging Bull[b], [b]Deer Hunter, Godfather II, Cape Fear...
Goodfellas is an awesome movie but De Niro is just window dressing in it, he pretty much sleepwalks through it.
Some of his underrated early 90s/late 80s stuff (before he started phoning it in) is great too - This Boy's Life, Awakenings, Midnight Run (THE de niro comedy, forget fockers and analyzing crap), Jackie Brown.
King of Comedy is great too. He should've been nominated for that. He's really good in Brazil too, but underutilised.
I didn't think The Mission was much chop, De Niro should've gone more over the top for that one.
